Do prices change when the gold rate changes?
Yes. Pieces priced by weight are priced at the rate you set that morning for their karat, so you never re-tag the shop when gold moves.
How is old gold exchanged?
Weigh it, choose its karat, take off stones and the melting loss and it is valued at the buying rate. It comes off the new bill and is recorded as a purchase of old gold.
Is investment gold taxed?
Pieces marked as investment gold (24K bars and coins) can carry their own tax rate where the law exempts them; jewellery uses the standard rate.
