Period lock
Close a month so its figures stay as reported. Once a day is locked, nobody can post, change or delete anything dated on or before it: sales, returns, purchases, expenses, debit and credit notes, capital, dividends, salaries, journal vouchers, depreciation, asset purchases and disposals, payroll and bank bookings. A sale of a locked month can still take a payment dated after the lock. Only an admin locks and unlocks.
Steps
- Open Accounting → Period lock.
- Choose the last day to lock, for example the last day of the month you reported.
- Add a note if you like, press Lock and confirm.
- To correct a locked month, press Unlock, make the change and lock it again.
Tips
- The lock cannot be set in the future, and every lock and unlock is kept in the Changes list with who did it.
- Instead of changing a locked month, post a correcting journal voucher dated after the lock.
