Depreciation runs
One run a month posts every active asset's depreciation: Depreciation expense against each category's accumulated depreciation, and the assets move on. Run depreciation shows the lines, the total and the split by category before you post; a month already posted or in the future is refused. Only the latest run can be reversed, which undoes its postings and puts the assets back. Part of the Fixed assets add-on.
Steps
- Open Fixed assets → Depreciation runs: the tiles show the month posted through, the next charge, this year's total and the number of runs; the badge on the menu reminds you when this month is not posted yet.
- Press Run depreciation, pick the month and read the lines: each asset's charge, the months it covers, the accumulated depreciation and the book value after it, with the split by category. Press Post to write the run.
- Open a run to see its lines again. Reverse on the latest run undoes its postings and puts every asset back to where it was; older runs are reversed in turn, newest first.
Tips
- A month with nothing due (every asset fully depreciated or disposed) cannot be posted; a run cannot be reversed once one of its assets was disposed.
- The postings land in the ledger under DEP and the month, one line per category, so the trial balance shows each category's accumulated depreciation.
