Excel and CSV import and export
Every list and table in StartERP downloads as Excel (.xlsx), CSV (UTF-8) or JSON, and every list of master records (products, customers, vendors, employees, categories, brands, warehouses, leads, vehicles) imports from Excel or CSV with a sample sheet made for your country and business.
Steps
- On a list, press Export (Import / Export where the list can be imported) and choose Excel (.xlsx), CSV (UTF-8), PDF (list report) or JSON. The file holds the whole filtered list, every page of it, not only the rows on screen.
- The Excel file starts with your store, its tax number, business category, period, filters and who exported it, then the list with real numbers and dates, filter buttons, a frozen header row and a totals row. The figures shown above the list go on a Summary sheet.
- Tables elsewhere (a customer's documents, a product's history, report tables) have Excel and CSV buttons under them.
- To import, choose Import from Excel or CSV, then Sample sheet (Excel) or Sample sheet (CSV). Fill one row per record under the example row; columns marked * are required and drop-downs list the allowed values.
- Choose the filled-in file, or paste the cells with their header row. Every row is checked first: Ready, Already there or Error with the reason. Press Import to save the ready rows, then download the rows with errors to fix them and import again.
Tips
- Exports follow your country: VAT, GST or the local tax name, the currency's decimals, a Hijri date beside each date in the Gulf and Arab countries, and right-to-left sheets when the app is in Arabic.
- Sample sheets follow your country and business too: the ID card's name and format for employees, IBAN or bank account and IFSC, the tax number's name, and no opening-stock column for a services-only business.
- CSV files are UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so Arabic opens correctly in Excel. Old .xls files must be saved as .xlsx or CSV before importing.
- Sales invoices, returns and purchase bills are export-only: tax invoices are numbered and reported by StartERP itself. Bring opening stock and opening balances over with the product, customer and vendor imports.
