View as a store role
An administrator can see the store exactly as a user with another role sees it: a cashier, a salesman, an accountant or one of your own RBAC roles. Menus, screens, buttons, add-ons and the data the server sends all follow that role, so you can check that every role's screens look right before your staff use them.
Steps
- Open the store, press your picture at the top right and choose View as store role….
- Pick a role, for example View as Store Cashier. The app opens again as that role, with an amber strip at the top saying which role and store you are viewing.
- Go through the screens the role uses: the sidebar, lists, forms, the POS and reports.
- Press View as Admin on the strip (or in your picture's menu) to come back to your own view.
Tips
- It is a preview: nothing you do while viewing as a role is saved. Save, delete and post are refused with a message, so no record is made in another person's name.
- The view belongs to the browser tab you started it in and ends by itself after 12 hours. Every start and end is written to the audit log.
In the app, press F1 or ? on this screen to open this guide next to your work.
