Terminals
See every device signed in to the store (web browsers, the mobile app and the desktop app), whether it is online now, and rename, sign out, deactivate or activate it.
Steps
- Open Settings → Terminals. A device appears there a minute after someone signs in to this store on it.
- A green dot means the terminal reported in the last two minutes. Each row shows the type, the system, the browser or app version, the user, the last time seen and the IP address.
- Press Rename to give a terminal a name such as Till 1.
- Sign out signs the device out within a minute; the user can sign in again. Deactivate signs it out every time until you press Activate. You cannot deactivate the device you are using.
- Remove takes an offline terminal off the list; it comes back if the device is used again.
- Get the desktop app: on the Download page (Sign in → Get the app) download StartERP Online and Offline for Windows or Mac. It carries the StartERP screens and keeps the store's copy on the till, so it opens and sells without internet, and updates itself.
- Offline desktop apps: turn the switch on to allow the StartERP Online and Offline desktop app. A new one shows “Waiting for approval”; press Approve to give it a terminal code (T01, T02 …), then choose its mode: Offline only or Online & offline. While the switch is off, no offline terminal syncs.
- Sync issues: if the server refuses a change an offline terminal made, for example a sale for a product deleted online, the terminal shows a Sync issues button with the count. Open it to see each refused change and why, make it again if it is still needed, then press Dismiss. Pictures, attachments and signed ZATCA XMLs made offline sync with the records they belong to.
- Long stretches without internet: once a terminal is approved it downloads every list of the store, with its pictures, attachments and ZATCA XMLs, so every screen keeps working offline, even for a whole day, and dashboards and reports show their last figures. When the internet is back it sends every change in the order it was made, then takes what changed elsewhere, including stock and balances. A B2B invoice made offline in a store on ZATCA Phase 2 waits for clearance and gets the store's number when it reaches the server.
- Number series: every approved offline terminal numbers what it makes from its own series, with its terminal code in each number (for example INV-T01-000001 for sales and RJ-T01-0001 for repair jobs), for every numbered document: invoices, returns, credit and debit notes, quotations, purchases, delivery notes, expenses, customers, vendors, products, stock transfers, shifts, jobs and the rest. Press Number series on the terminal to see the next number of each. The server checks every number it receives and refuses one outside the terminal's series or already used, so numbers never clash.
- On the offline desktop app itself, the corner of every screen shows its sync: Waiting for the admin's approval, Offline only with the changes kept on the terminal, Syncing, Synced with its terminal code, or Offline with the changes waiting. Sales and other changes are saved on the terminal at once and sent when it can reach the server; changes made elsewhere come down the same way. Press it to sync now.
Tips
- Only users who can edit the store's settings can rename, sign out, deactivate or activate terminals.
- The StartERP desktop app for Windows and Mac is StartERP Online and Offline: it keeps selling without internet. The Android app is an online system: it needs an internet connection.
In the app, press F1 or ? on this screen to open this guide next to your work.
