Steps

  1. Open My profile and press “Turn on 2-step verification” on the 2-step verification card.
  2. Scan the QR code with Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy or your phone’s password manager (or press “Type the key instead”).
  3. Type the 6-digit code the app shows; it is checked as soon as you type the sixth digit.
  4. Copy or download your 10 recovery codes, tick “I have saved my recovery codes” and press Done.
  5. From now on, sign-in asks for the code after your password. Leave “Don’t ask again on this browser for 30 days” ticked on your own computer.
  6. To require it in a store: Settings → Security, choose Everyone, Administrators only or Chosen roles, and press Save.

Tips

  • Lost your phone? Sign in with a recovery code (“Use a recovery code”). Each code works once; create new ones in My profile when few are left.
  • No phone and no recovery codes: an administrator opens Users → the user → “Reset 2-step verification”, then the user sets it up again.
  • When a store requires it, each person gets 3 sign-ins to set it up; after that StartERP shows the set-up screen before anything else.
  • If a code is refused, set your phone’s time to automatic: the codes change every 30 seconds.
  • Changing your password, or turning 2-step off and on, makes every remembered browser ask for a code again. “Forget” removes one browser.
