IMEI & serial numbers
Every phone or device you receive, with its IMEI or serial number, and where it is now: in stock, sold (with the invoice, the date and the customer) or returned. A unit is sold when a sale line names its number, as the mobile POS does when you scan the IMEI at the till, and back in stock when a later return names it. Part of the IMEI & serial numbers add-on for mobile phone shops.
Steps
- Open Inventory → IMEI & serial numbers and press "Receive units". Pick the product (and the purchase it came on), then scan or type the numbers, one per line, and save. Each number becomes one unit.
- Type an IMEI or serial number in the search box to find a unit, its sale and its customer, for a warranty claim for example. The tabs list the units in stock, sold or returned.
Tips
- A 15-digit IMEI is checked as you scan it (its last digit is a check digit), and a number received twice is refused.
- "Sold, never received" lists numbers found on sales with no unit received: record the unit, or check the number on the sale.
- On other sales, a line names a unit when it says "IMEI", "S/N" or "Serial" followed by the number.
