Stock counts
Count what is really on the shelves and correct the stock in one step. A count takes the stock of every product in a warehouse (or one category of it) as it is when you start; you type or scan what you find, see each product that is over or short with its value at the purchase price, and post: each product's stock moves by its difference. Part of the Stock counts add-on.
Steps
- Open Inventory → Stock counts and press New count. Pick the warehouse, and a category to count one part of it at a time. Tick Blind count so the counters do not see the system quantity.
- Count: scan each item's barcode (every scan adds 1) or type the quantity you counted next to the product. Press Save counts as you go; you can carry on later from the same count.
- Check the products with a difference, then press Post to stock. The screen lists how many products are over and short and the net value before anything moves.
Tips
- Sales and purchases made while you count are kept: posting moves the stock by the difference between what you counted and the stock when the count started, not to the counted number.
- Products you did not count stay as they are. A posted count cannot be changed or deleted; count again to correct it. Each product's history shows the count's number.
