Steps

  1. Turn it on in Settings → Store → POS terminal → Cash shifts. You can also make the till open a shift before the first sale, suggest an opening float, hide the expected cash while counting (blind count) and list the notes and coins you count.
  2. On the POS, press Open shift in the top bar, name this till once (for example Till 1), type the cash in the drawer and press Open shift. Every sale and till return from now on counts in this shift.
  3. Press the shift button for Pay in (change brought from the safe) or Pay out (cash taken to the safe or spent), with a reason. Moves already made cannot be removed.
  4. X report shows the shift so far: sales, returns, net sales and VAT, takings by payment method and the cash that should be in the drawer. Print it on the receipt printer if you need to.
  5. Close shift: type how many of each note and coin are in the drawer, add loose coins, and press Close shift. The Z report shows expected against counted cash and prints with its Z number.
  6. Sales → POS shifts lists every till's shifts with the net sales, expected and counted cash and over/short, filters by till and state, and exports to Excel. Press a row to see its X or Z report.

Tips

  • Expected cash = opening float + cash sales − cash refunds + pay in − pay out. Card, transfer, wallet and credit sales are listed by method but are not in the drawer.
  • A shortage or overage is posted to the CASH OVER AND SHORT account when the shift closes, so Cash in the books matches the drawer.
  • One shift can be open on a till at a time. A closed shift and its Z report can never be changed or deleted.
  • Without internet the till keeps working: the shift, its sales and its close are sent when the connection is back, and the server works the Z report out again.
