Steps

  1. Click Print (or Print A4 / Print Thermal / Thermal Receipt) on a document. Thermal buttons start on the 80 mm roll.
  2. Choose the Printer: “This device — print dialog / PDF” or one of the printers set up in printing settings.
  3. Pick the Paper size: receipt rolls (58 mm, 80 mm, 112 mm, 76 mm impact), cut sheets (A4, A5, A3, A6, B5, Letter, Legal…), continuous dot-matrix forms or 4 × 6″ labels; Portrait or Landscape for sheets.
  4. Set Template (Modern, Classic, Minimal, Compact, Boxed), Language (Arabic + English, Arabic only…) and Copies with Original / Copy labels.
  5. Tick the Content you want: Logo, ZATCA QR, item code, discount column, VAT per line, amount in words, bank / IBAN, terms, signatures, stamp, page numbers. Delivery notes also have “Show prices” (on by default).
  6. Pre-printed invoice books: under Paper size, “Custom formats (pre-printed paper)” lists the store's own formats; pick one to print only the data on its own paper size, with no labels (see “Custom print formats for pre-printed paper”).
  7. On sheet paper, “Seals & signatures” adds the store's company seal and signatures to the document: drag them on the preview and click “Save layout” (see “Seals and signatures on printed documents”).
  8. Check the Preview tab (zoom, Fit). For rolls also see “Printer-exact” and the ESC/POS bytes; for tax invoices the “ZATCA Phase 2” tab shows the signed XML, hash chain and QR tags.
  9. Press Print (× copies) for the system dialog, or “Send to …” to send raw ESC/POS to a USB, serial or network printer.
  10. Click “Download PDF” to save the document as a PDF file with this template and these options. The PDF icon in a list row, on the document page and on its edit page downloads the PDF straight away, with the options saved as default.
  11. For a document reported to ZATCA, “Zatca signed xml link (PDF)” in Content chooses where the PDF shows the “Zatca signed xml” link (a corner of the page) or “Don't show”. Anyone with the PDF can click it to open that document's signed XML, without signing in. The signed XML is also inside the PDF itself (PDF/A-3 attachment), even with “Don't show”. The “Zatca signed xml” button next to Download PDF opens the XML in a browser tab.
  12. Click “Save as default” to reuse this printer, paper, template and copies for this document type.

Tips

  • A credit or debit note (for a customer or a vendor) that ZATCA accepted prints its ZATCA QR code like a sales invoice, and its PDF gets the “Zatca signed xml” link and the signed XML inside it.
  • ZATCA requires Arabic on tax invoices, so “English only” is not offered for them; another language may be added next to Arabic.
  • Impact (dot-matrix) receipt printers cannot print QR codes or images — use them for kitchen tickets, not tax invoices. Raw ESC/P on continuous forms prints Latin text only; use the print dialog for Arabic.
  • For thermal Arabic choose “Arabic as image lines (recommended)”; Auto-cut, Open cash drawer and Small font (Font B) are in the roll options.
  • On letterhead paper tick “Pre-printed letterhead” and adjust the X / Y offsets. The watermark is automatic (PAID once settled) or can be forced to UNPAID, DRAFT, COPY or CANCELLED.
  • In the browser dialog choose the same paper size and zero margins. Use “Mark as reprint” when printing a document again.
  • Up to 5 copies can be printed at once; each gets its Original / Copy label.
  • In the StartERP Online and Offline app for Windows and Mac (Sign in → “Get the app”), the Printer list also shows the printers of this computer, its default first. Pick one and Print sends the document straight to it with no print dialog; “Save as default” keeps it for that document type. On another computer without that printer, the print dialog opens instead. In the Android app, receipts print on network printers.
  • The StartERP desktop app (StartERP Online and Offline) syncs with the StartERP server while connected, and keeps selling and printing from its copy on the computer when the internet drops. The Android app works while the phone is connected to the internet, like the browser.
  • In a POS terminal "Print" goes straight to the print dialog in the till's default receipt; "Save & print" on the payment screen prints the same way. The settings icon next to the default print format at the bottom of the payment screen (or "Print Center" in the sale's "Details") opens the Print Center. There "Save as default" also makes the chosen paper, with its template, printer and copies, the terminal's default receipt.
