Promotions & coupons
Set up offers once and the POS and the sales invoice apply them by themselves: percent or amount off, buy X get Y, bundle prices, spend-threshold offers, happy hours and coupon codes. The offer shows on the line and is saved as the line's discount. Part of the Promotions add-on.
Steps
- Open Sales → Promotions & coupons and press New promotion. Give it a name (it shows on the line and the receipt) and pick the offer: Percent off, Amount off each unit, Buy X get Y, Bundle price or Spend threshold.
- Under On, choose Everything or chosen products, categories or brands, and a minimum quantity if you want one.
- Under When and for whom, set the dates, tick the days and type the hours for a happy hour; add customer groups (the customer's category, such as Wholesale) to keep it for them.
- For a coupon, type its code and how many times it can be used; the offer then applies only when the cashier types the code in the POS Discount window or in Coupon code on the sales invoice.
- Sell as usual: the POS and a new sales invoice apply the live offers as items are added and show each offer's name and saving under the line.
- On the Report tab pick a period to see each promotion's sales, quantity, revenue, discount given, cost and margin, with charts; download Excel or print.
Tips
- Higher priority goes first. An offer that cannot combine keeps a line it took to itself; two offers that can combine both apply, the second on what is left.
- In Buy X get Y the cheapest items go free (or at the % off you set); in a bundle the dearest items make up the bundle.
- Tick Amounts include VAT when the amounts (amount off, bundle price, spend threshold) are as the customer sees the price.
- The server works the promotions out again when the sale is saved: a saving above the offer's is refused, a used-up coupon is refused, and each coupon use is counted. A role's maximum discount does not count the store's own offers.
- Saved invoices keep their discounts: editing an old invoice does not apply today's offers again.
