Steps

  1. Turn it on in Settings → Store → POS terminal → Customer display.
  2. Connect a second monitor to the till's computer. On the POS, press Customer display in the top bar: it opens in a new window.
  3. Drag the window to the second monitor and make it full screen (F11 on Windows and Linux, Control+Command+F on a Mac).
  4. Sell as usual. The display follows the cart; after the sale is paid it thanks the customer for 20 seconds, then shows the welcome again.
  5. A tablet or TV of its own instead: press Customer display, then Pair a tablet or TV. On the tablet or TV open starterp.org/#/pos-display in the browser and type the 6-digit code the till shows. The code works once, for 10 minutes; nobody signs in on the tablet.
  6. To stop a paired display, press Customer display and Unpair: the tablet goes back to asking for a code.

Tips

  • A display window on the till's own computer gets everything from the till directly, so it keeps working without internet. Costs and other customers' details are never sent to any display.
  • A paired tablet or TV needs internet on both the till and the display. It can only show what its till sends: it cannot open the store or anything else.
  • The QR code is the receipt's own: in Saudi Arabia the customer can scan it to check the invoice.
