Steps

  1. Turn it on in Settings → Store → POS terminal → Returns at the till. A Return button then shows in the POS top bar.
  2. Press Return and scan the receipt's number or type the invoice number, customer name or phone. The terminal's recent sales are listed to pick from.
  3. Type how many of each item come back (never more than is left after earlier returns), or press Return everything left, and pick a reason.
  4. The refund follows how the sale was paid: each method gives back up to what it took. Change the method or amount if the customer wants it another way, then press Save return.
  5. The screen shows the cash to give the customer; Print gives the return receipt. The return is listed in Sales → Sales returns.
  6. To swap items, press Exchange instead of Save return. The return is saved with its paid value as an exchange credit, shown in the top bar. Add the new items and press Pay: the credit is the first payment and the customer pays only the difference.

Tips

  • A sale that was not fully paid gets its unpaid part taken off the customer's balance first, so no cash leaves the drawer for money never received.
  • In Saudi Arabia (ZATCA Phase 2) the return is reported as a credit note right after saving, like the Sales returns form. A sale ZATCA has not answered for yet can be returned once the answer comes.
  • With cash shifts on, a cash refund lowers the shift's expected cash and shows on its X and Z report.
  • An exchange's credit goes in and out of the drawer as cash, so the drawer only changes by the difference. If the new items cost less, the rest of the credit is given in cash. Press × on the credit to give all of it in cash instead. The X and Z reports count exchanges on their own line.
